I have been featured in September issue of Voyage Magazine. Their mission is to find local “gems” (businesses in areas that most locals know about but may not normally get as much exposure. I have been asked to write an article about how I got started and what my business is all about. My name is Jane Oswald, owner and cookie artist for Not So Plain Jane Cookies - offering unique, custom decorated sugar cookies for all occasions. I actually started creating custom decorated cookies about 4 years ago as a party favor for my son's Star Wars birthday party. I am self taught through trial and error in my kitchen and with continued learning through online tutorials. I had always enjoyed drawing and painting ever since I was a little girl and I really just stumbled upon cookies by accident. After creating the Star Wars cookies for my son my friends slowly asked me to make cookies for their parties. From then on, creating cookies took a life of its own. I enjoy what I do and enjoy the challenges that designing custom cookies for clients brings to me. Who doesn't like making people happy?
